West New York Leones Cubanos De Hudson Lions Club, Ex-Presos Politicos De Cuba And Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center Celebrate José Martí Day

Each year on January 28, the West New York Leones Cubanos de Hudson Lions Club and Ex-Presos Politicos de Cuba honor Cuban leader José Martí's birthday by donating gifts and baby care items to the families of newborn babies born at Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center.

This year, West New York Leones Cubanos de Hudson Lions Club members proudly delivered their generous donation to Alexandra Toscano Loor and Victor Navarrete of West New York, NJ, on the birth of their baby boy, Matthew.

Ex-Presos Politicos de Cuba members proudly delivered donations to Evelin Fuela Quinatoa and Abraham Martinez of Union City, NJ, on the birth of their baby girl, Alisson, and they also delivered a donation to Olga Hernandez Turcios and Carlos Garcia of Guttenberg, NJ, on the birth of their baby boy, Lucas.

José Martí was a leader of the Cuban independence movement from Spain as well as a renowned poet and writer. He is considered the national hero of Cuba and often referred to as the "Apostle of Cuban Independence."
