Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center Launches Campaign To Prevent C. Diff Infections

Throughout the nation, November is designated as Clostridium difficile (C. diff) Awareness Month to improve prevention of the most common antimicrobial cause of healthcare-associated infections in U.S. hospitals. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), C. diff causes nearly 500,000 infections in patients in the U.S. annually. C. diff infection can cause swelling and irritation of the colon (colitis), which can lead to diarrhea, fever, nausea, dehydration, belly pain, and in some cases death.
