Preparing For Your Stay
Being admitted to a hospital shouldn't be an overwhelming experience for patients or their families. At Palisades Medical Center, our goal is to provide health care services in a manner that is patient-centered, responsive to physician expectations, and accessible to all. We've adopted a comprehensive Patient Bill of Rights to help ensure the best possible experience for everyone involved.
Preparing for Your Stay
At Palisades Medical Center, we do our best to ensure your comfort and confidence by making our hospital a friendly, helpful and tranquil place.
Caring for You
At Palisades Medical Center, our team of health care professionals works together to ensure that patients receive quality services administered with passion and concern.
Your physician manages your overall care, prescribes medications, orders tests and treatments, and monitors your progress. Nurses provide skilled, hands-on care for patients 24 hours a day. Our staff includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and nurse assistants.
Specially-trained technicians are certified to provide diagnostic imaging services, laboratory tests, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and other procedures. Anesthesiologists and pain management specialists work to keep you as comfortable as possible, and pharmacists fill prescriptions for medications that have been ordered by your doctor.
In addition, workers from dietary, housekeeping, security, maintenance and other departments provide valuable support services for patients, staff and visitors.
Palisades Medical Center is a proud partner of Sodexo, the leader in integrated food service and facilities management in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Sodexo is in business to create and offer services that contribute to a more pleasant way of life for people wherever and whenever they come together. One of the "World's Most Admired Companies" according to Fortune Magazine, Sodexo is dedicated to making every day a better day for patients at Palisades Medical Center.
Our food service department is staffed by full-time registered dieticians, who plan menus for each patient in accordance with physician's orders.
Personal Choice Dining
Patients at Palisades Medical Center get to choose what they want to eat by selecting from a menu for all 3 meals of the day. A Sodexo hostess will provide you with a menu, discuss your likes and dislikes, and take your order. Patients on unrestricted diets choose what they like to eat from 30 selections for lunch, 30 selections for dinner, and at least 10 selections for breakfast – every day. Choices include daily specials as well as food that honors culture and religion.
Meals for Guests
If you'd like a visitor to join you for a meal, guest trays can be ordered for a nominal fee.
Patient meals are served at the following times:
Breakfast: 7:15 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Dinner: 4:15 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
If you miss a meal because you're having tests or treatments, your nurse will arrange for food to be delivered as soon as your doctor permits.
Patient Relations Department
The Patient Relations Department promotes and ensures the highest standard of quality care for all patients, family members, visitors and guests.
The department's role is to make absolutely certain that patient and family member concerns, issues or formal complaints are addressed in a satisfactory manner. When necessary, Patient Relations Representatives meet with the Directors and/or Clinical Coordinator of various departments to discuss how to resolve patient satisfaction issues with respect to nursing care, food service, housekeeping, maintenance, and any other areas. Patient Relations Representatives also serve as a liaison between doctors, medical staff, and patients.
The Patient Relations Department promotes the Speak-Up Program, which encourages patients to become an active member of their own health care.
Patient Relations Representatives also help patients fill out the Press Ganey® Survey, which serves as an important tool in improving and promoting the highest standard of quality care.
Patient Relations Representatives play an active role in our local communities by coordinating health fairs and screenings to promote healthy behaviors and enhance awareness of Palisades Medical Center's services and programs. They also conduct tours of the hospital for groups and the general public.
