Family Medicine Residency Program

Thank you for visiting our website, and welcome to the Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program. Our program was approved by the American Osteopathic Association for 12 positions and began training residents in July 2013. In 2018, our program became accredited by the ACGME.

We are a community health system, and our program is committed to caring for the people of Hudson and Bergen Counties and surrounding communities through delivery of quality care and education. Our residents are equally committed to this mission, dedicated to their own training, supportive of each other and willing to challenge themselves daily. Our enthusiastic and energetic faculty, each with their own area of expertise, is devoted to teaching our residents and continuing to foster the ideals of our profession. Our residents are exposed to a wide variety of patient populations in all of our partnering training facilities, including Englewood Hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center, Meadowlands Hospital, Bergen Regional Medical Center, and North Hudson Community Action Corporation outpatient clinic, as well as private outpatient clinics.

Our program is designed to expand residents' knowledge base, enabling them to be able to diagnose and treat their patients as well as incorporate osteopathic principles and treatment into common inpatient and outpatient problems. The curriculum stresses wellness and disease prevention, patient education, nutrition, normal human behavior, and in the psychosocial aspects of patient care. Residents learn procedures routinely performed by family physicians, and become a part of the complex business side of medicine as they work to coordinate the care of their patients.

We are committed to developing compassionate, skillful and competent physicians who can provide leadership, patient advocacy, and high quality medical care in the tradition and philosophy of family medicine.
